Yes, the march of Rings continues.
One of the questions we debated here at the Secret Clanhold was the CAP on Rings. The truth is that everyone ignores the CAP on the rings once they are on your characters fingers.
DS is meant to have a lot of roll your own rules, so we did not want to get into a special subset of rules that cover ring CAP. The only reason for the CAP is so that when a merchant is carrying these things they have a CAP of some kind, otherwise someone is going to try to say, but I can carry a billion of these, they have no CAP. Therefore they have a CAP and we have GM's armed with rule 3.4 to deal with the rules lawyers.
This is a mighty handy ring for a shifter. You might think wearing one would say "Hey, I am a Shifter!" The truth is that a lot of Necro's and mercs wear these just to brag that they bagged a shifter who had one. It is usually a lie, but then what would you expect from a Necro?
Here is another handy ring. Remind me to tell you about the scout that a group hired to help them track down some bad guys. One of the characters gave the scout her Wizard Wings ring. Turned out the scout was an Apprentice Necro, and escaped using the ring. There is one angry Valarian out there now.
That is it for today. Tomorrow we have the final three rings in the set.
The new wording on the Ring of Shifting removes any doubt as to whether a non-shifter could use one to shift, or to use it to shift into a form one can't shift into otherwise, a couple of ambiguities on the old card I was tempted to try to exploit at times, tho I doubt I would have gotten away with it. I am also very glad to see the bump to 2 cp forms, makes it much more useful. And thanks for the duration upgrade on the Ring of Wizard Rings, increases its utility for long distance travel.
