And three more rings makes a nine card set

Here we have the next three Magic rings.

Ring of Teleport

This is as close to a get out of jail card as we get in DS. This is where you have to start looking at that funny line of text under the picture. It requires your Action to activate a Teleport Ring. Teleporting is not so easy. There is also the (L1R) in there. That means you can try only one of these per round.

Ring of Sense Magic Item

Now is the time to point out the new card numbering in the lower left of the card. We actually have cards that are numbered as Magic Items. Why? because they are not just regular items, they are Magic Items.

Ring of Free Skeleton

This one is new. You will find that with the new Exploding Dice skeletons have become dangerous once again. GM's will be adding a lot more little bad guys into the encounters, they are not going to do a lot of damage, but they now can hurt you, so you have to take them seriously.

The other trick about skeletons is that they do reform if you do not free them. It may take a week, or even a month, but they will be back to annoy someone.

The plan at this point is to get these cards assembled on a Printer sheet and send them off to be printed.

I will be putting up a special order button for the set. From the time I send it to the printer until they arrive here the Sets will be 5 sets for $15.00, after that they will be $4.00 each.

  1. "Nine for mortal men doomed to die..." oops, wrong universe. More than humans here... ;-)
Ring of Teleport probably did need limiting somewhat, although I tended to hoard them for lifesaving they do make getaways a bit too easy. Still quite a bargain at 25 gp.

I like the new anti-skeleton card. Is this the first ring to mimic a shaman spell? Is there room for more rings based on shamanism and withcraft and perhaps other magics rather than wizardry?

I have mixed feelings about the new format. I like what you've done with the rings, but wonder if this is the future format for magic items in general? Refering to existing spells does save characters when designing cards most of the time. But it is more consumer friendly to not require other cards to use a magic item. Guess there isn't any reason not to use both approaches depending on the card...just a guy who likes designing cards wondering...

    Global impression...good stuff!

  3. Decided my last bit of nitpicking contributed absolutly nothing worthwhile to the discussion or the game and exercised my ability to retroactively shut up...something I wish I could do in real life on a regular basis... ;-)

  4. As often as possible we want the new Magic Items to stand on their own. I am not sure we can do everything that way. I started with the easiest ones and can work forward.

We are going to open the rings up to more options, the more the merrier. We will ignore what that does to the Ring Maker classic card. That is what 3.4 is for.

  5. Daggonit, are you psychic? Did you watch me post the post I took down? Or are you just overly familiar with my theoretical nitpicking? ;-)
